A COLLABORATION BETWEEN LAFAYETTE ANIMAL AID AND WILD CAT FOUNDATION
Feral Power Too is a joint program between LAA and the Wild Cat Foundation of Lafayette, the area’s only TNR (trap, neuter, return) group. It’s a true ‘no kill’ solution that humanely addresses the population issue of feral cats in our community. Subsidized by LAA and Wild Cat Foundation, feral cat caretakers or concerned citizens in Lafayette parish can - for a greatly reduced fee of only $40 per cat - proactively take a vital part in reducing the number of feral cats in our community.

THE COST INCLUDES

  1. Spay or neuter (with dissolvable sutures)

  2. Rabies vaccination

  3. Antibiotic injection (to prevent post-surgery infection)

  4. Ear mites and flea treatment

  5. Ear tip

FOR FERAL CATS IN LAFAYETTE PARISH

$40 (males and females)

FOR FERAL CATS OUTSIDE OF LAFAYETTE PARISH

$45 (males)

$67 (females)

Feral Power Too guidelines

  1. Wild Cat Foundation volunteers will train feral cat caretakers in humane trapping, post-operative care, and will offer advice and suggestions on maintaining a healthy colony.

  2. Traps and equipment will be loaned out after completion of training.

  3. Selective neutering is not encouraged - all feral cats and kittens within a colony should be neutered as quickly as possible to avoid more breeding.

  4. All cats will be returned to the trap site. The Feral Power Too program does not relocate cats or colonies to other areas.

Benefits

  1. Humanely reduces the number of kittens in your neighborhood.

  2. Reduces the number of feral kittens and cats killed at Animal Control facilities.

  3. Allows the caretaker to take a more proactive role in monitoring and maintaining a feral cat colony.

  4. Feral Power Too moves our community closer towards a No Kill society.
