A Louisiana
cat and dog
rescue and adoption center
"Lafayette Animal Aid (LAA), member of the American Humane Society, was first founded in 1974 and is a chartered non-profit agency. In 1976, Lafayette Animal Aid was granted the status of a 501( c)(3) non-profit by the IRS. In accordance with our by-laws, as many as eleven volunteers may serve on the Board of Directors of Lafayette Animal Aid.
"LAA employs a part-time Shelter Manager and several part-time volunteers to work at our shelter which houses approximately 100 dogs
and over 100 cats. We also recruit volunteers to help us at various events like Bark in the Park and other fund-raising events. However, we still need many more volunteers, not only to help with these events, but also to allow us to do things such as hold more and better adoption and educational events throughout the city.
"Therefore, we would like to encourage you to consider becoming involved with LAA. Perhaps you or someone you know has good computer, organizational, fundraising, and/or finance/budgeting skills. Or perhaps you may just have the desire to help by committing some of your spare time. Non-profit groups are woefully understaffed and ready to accept any assistance you can give.
"Lafayette Animal Aid would like to thank you for your past support ofour efforts. Your contributions help fund Lafayette Animal Aid in its
goals to:
1)Provide humane shelter and care to animals in need of housing,
2)Help fund our on-going spay/neuter program,
3)Further the cause of responsible animal ownership through education and public awareness, and
4)Promote kindness and eliminate cruelty and neglect to all animals.
"We could not provide the services we do without support from friends such as you. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to call our shelter at 337-896-1553.
Kay Fontenot,
President of the Board of Directors

Sweet dreams...
We’ve chosen KURANDA pet beds for our shelter because they are so good for our dogs and cats. But we don't have enough. If you would like to donate a bed (at a special, discounted price) so another dog or cat can sleep in proper comfort, please click here.
ADOPTIONS
We have many, many cats and dogs, puppies and kittens available for adoption to good, loving homes. Our animals are all spayed or neutered, they have received all necessary veterinary care and are up-to-date on all their shots. We know each of our cats and dogs very well and can help you find a new pet who fits right in with your family and lifestyle. Please visit our adoption pages to learn more about our pets, and visit our shelter in person to meet them!
VOLUNTEER
We always need volunteers to help us with our dogs and cats, and now more than ever. From hands-on work with the animals at our shelter, to driving a cat to a vet appointment; from shopping for supplies to playing with and socializing our puppies; from fostering a kitten in your home to taking a dog for a walk once in a while - we have many volunteer opportunities. Whether you can spare an hour a month or a few hours a week, we need you! Please click here to find out more about volunteering with LAA.
