LAFAYETTE ANIMAL AID CALENDARS ARE HERE!
If you’re looking for a unique and delightful Christmas present, or if you just can’t bear the thought of starting the new year without a place to write down all your important dates and events.... then look no further! We’re offering our very own LAFAYETTE ANIMAL AID 2010 CALENDAR and it’s on sale now! Each month features a fantastic photo of one of our cats or dogs, with a little info about them. Every cent and dollar of proceeds from the sale of these calendars will benefit our community’s homeless population of cats and dogs. And we’ve got a few different ways you can get hold of one (or two, or three, or four.......)
BIG THANKS TO TWO VERY SPECIAL YOUNG LADIES!
Initiative, caring, community involvement: these are qualities we love and exactly why we’re so proud of Gabrielle (pictured here with Scrapper at our shelter), who collected “Pennies for Puppies” all year for Lafayette Animal Aid. And with her friends Abby and Sydney, she also sold lemonade! THANK YOU Gabrielle, Abby and Sydney for your very, very generous donation!
Hope (above, with one of our four-legged residents) recently celebrated her 9th birthday. And in a great spirit of kindness and generosity, she asked her friends to donate money for Lafayette Animal Aid (and another worthy cause!) instead of buying presents for her! Hope, we appreciate you and are so grateful to you for helping us!
We’d like to give a
BIG SHOUT OUT
to Cajun Paving & Construction of Acadiana LLC. The wonderful folks at this great company came to our aid and helped us big-time with an incredibly generous donation of first-class materials and professional labor and expertise to lay the concrete for our Cat Cottage expansion. AND - they fixed our gravel driveway so that our visitors and volunteers won’t have to feel like they’re on a four-wheel adventure trip when they come to the shelter. THANK YOU! We owe you, guys!
Please support them by visiting their website and consider them if you’re in the market for their services... and tell them thanks again from us when you call!
Thank you Active Moms!
We were thrilled with a huge bumper load of donations that the Acadiana Active Moms Playgroup organized for us.... food and litter and toys and crates and cleaning supplies and bowls and treats and oh my! What a wonderful day! Here are some pics of some very happy dogs and cats (and people!).
1. Come to our shelter to purchase (call us at 337-896-1553) for directions and to make sure someone will be there.
2. Call us (337-896-1553) with your credit card details and we’ll be happy to mail one to you.
3. Send us a check with a note saying you’d like a calendar (make sure to include your mailing address). Send checks to: Lafayette Animal Aid, PO Box 298, Carencro, LA, 70520.
The calendars are $15 each and if you’d like us to mail them to you, it’ll be an extra $2.50
Krewe des Chiens
Mardi Gras Parade
Saturday, Feb. 6th, Downtown Lafayette
We’re excited to be taking part in this parade again - we and our dogs have a blast at this great day out and it’s something we all look forward to every year! We have LOTS of dogs we’d like to take, but we don’t have enough people to walk them. If you’d like to help, we’d love to have you with us! All we ask is that you can come to our shelter at 12:00 noon to pick up your dog, transport them to the Parade (which begins at 2:00 p.m.), walk them in the Parade, and then return them back to our shelter at the end. If this sounds like fun (and it will be, we promise!), please give us a call (337-896-1553) or email us to let you know you can help.

Please help us get ready for the parade by donating any surplus
Mardi Gras beads you have!
A million thanks!
We’ve had some wonderful donations recently from some wonderful folks!
Amy Chappuis stopped by to bring us a check and some shelter supplies (we love Fabulosa). Here she is (with Scrapper - who won’t let her leave...).
Bart Christian visited us at the shelter and brought donations of food and supplies. His donations were in remembrance of his beloved dog Katie, who had recently passed away at the age of 11 years.
Jennifer Huggins and her students from Comeaux High School had a special field trip to the shelter on Jan. 8, 2010 as they brought us a much-needed donation of towels and blankets.
Bark in the Park!
Click here to see photos of the day. And THANK YOU to everyone who supported this great event.
For the cost of a box of Valentine candy, you can buy one to two months of lunches for one of the animals in our shelter, like Tigger or Max. Please be a sweetheart and consider making a donation this Valentine’s Day!

PETCO NATIONAL ADOPTION WEEKEND
We’re excited to be taking part in this wonderful adoption event; we’ll have some of our adoptable cats and dogs at our local PETCO store for you to meet, and we’re really hoping that some of them find wonderful homes this weekend. Our cats and dogs love to make new friends, so please stop by and say hi!
We’ll be there from 12 noon to 3pm on Saturday Feb. 20 and from 1 to 3 pm on Sunday Feb. 21.

THANK YOU ACADIANA!
From our President:
We have just completed our ‘Operation Valentine’ campaign. This is one of two mail-out campaigns we do each year, and again, the response from Acadiana was overwhelming. We are so fortunate to have such support from the community. Please know that your contributions honor all animals and animal lovers and allow Lafayette Animal Aid to:
1)Provide humane shelter and care to animals in need of housing
2)Help fund our ongoing spay/neuter program
3)Further the cause of responsible animal ownership through education and public awareness and
4)Promote kindenss and eliminate cruelty and neglect to all animals
So, once again, THANK YOU ACADIANA, for thinking of our animals and for all the support you have given us today and in the past. We are indeed blessed.
Kay Fontenot
President, Lafayette Animal Aid
Thank you Ms. Cindy Walton! Everything you see in the photo here was donated by Ms. Cindy in memory of her beloved, handsome Whippet Napolean. We are very, very grateful and honored to be chosen as recipient of these much-needed items in Napolean’s memory.
Please meet Sydney G! Sydney brought us donations that she purchased with her own money! She earned the money by continually being on the Principal’s List at school. Sydney is a 5th grade student at Rayne Catholic Elementary. What a wonderful gesture - we appreciate you, Sydney!!
WE LOVE RAISING CANE’S!!!
The great folks at Raising Cane’s recently held a fundraiser for us - remember those adorable ‘Cane the Elf’ dogs they sold? Well, they gave all their profits to us! Our four-legged friends here at the shelter were overjoyed and so were we! Thanks, guys, for your support and your hard work! It’s appreciated more than you know!
