A Louisiana

We wouldn’t exist without our volunteers. It’s as simple as that - they are the backbone of our organization. And we always need more help. If you love cats and dogs and if you’d like to make a difference in the lives of our community’s homeless pets, we’d love to hear from you. We have many different volunteering opportunities - see below and if you have any questions, feel free to call or email at 337-896-1553 or lafanimalaid@yahoo.com. Special events
We hold fundraisers and awareness events throughout the year and are always looking for people to help us with them. If you like helping with events or would just like to stuff some envelopes or help out on the day, we’d love to have you.
Also...
Maybe you want to help, but have a crazy work calendar or a hectic home life, or you might work offshore without a schedule or you may have an on-call job... Even if you can only spare a couple of hours here and then, you can still provide some much-needed help. Come and play with the kittens, brush a dog, spend some time with a frightened cat, walk a puppy. Or maybe you could give a dog a bath or just hang out and play with the many wonderful animals living at our shelter - we, and they, would appreciate it tons.
Vet transports
If you’d like to help but can’t commit to a regular schedule, maybe you could join our transport team.We need people to drive our cats and dogs to (and back from) local vet clinics for spay/neuter appointments, tests and checkups. Often, you can simply pick the animal up from our shelter and drive him/her to the vet, without having to stay for the appointment. We also need drivers to collect animals from their appointments and return them to the shelter.
Shopping
If you like to shop, we’d love to give you a list! A shelter our size needs lots of supplies. Mainly cleaning supplies and a large amount of cat litter, but also the odd item now and then. If you have time to shop for us once a week (or as needed), please call us!
Work at the shelter
We care for many, many cats and dogs at our shelter in Carencro, just outside of Lafayette. Twice a day, every single day of the year, we have shelter shifts to provide for our animals’ needs. Feeding, cleaning, exercising, washing dishes, giving medication, sweeping, hosing, bathing, brushing, laundry. And then we spend as much time as we can playing, socializing, training. It’s not glamorous work but it’s necessary and it’s rewarding. If you can spare a few hours every week (or even every other week), either in the morning or late afternoon/evening, please consider this volunteer position.
