Make a monthly pledge to support Acadiana’s no-kill animal shelter.
Lafayette Animal Aid’s Guardian Angel supporters are a critical part of the daily function of the shelter and the health and welfare of each special animal.
Your monthly sponsorship allows LAA to feed, shelter, and provide medical care to all LAA animals, many of whom arrive unexpectedly and with serious medical conditions.
All Guardian Angels pledging $25 or more receive a Lafayette Animal Aid Guardian Angel T-shirt as our special thank you!
Serve Breakfast! Your $25 monthly sponsorship will purchase a healthy bag of dog food every month! This will go a long way to $50 nourishing our 250 shelter pets!
Spay or neuter an intact animal! An unaltered cat can birth as many as 15 kittens each year. Your $50 monthly sponsorship will sterilize a cat or dog each month, helping to control pet overpopulation in Acadiana.
Prevent parasites! Your $100 monthly sponsorship will help provide flea and heartworm prevention to keep our animals healthy and safe.
Save a life! The majority of LAA’s rescue dogs arrive heartworm-positive. Untreated, heartworms are a fatal condition. But your $250 monthly sponsorship will save the lives of 10 dogs each year!
Thanks for being a Guardian Angel!

Finnegan’s Medical Care
Please Donate For Much Needed Medical Care!
A caring community member brought this little guy to Lafayette Animal Aid after finding him in a life-threatening condition. Both legs on his right side were completely shattered and required immediate surgery. Fennigan also had an injury to his right eye as well. Upon examination, it was not clear whether this little dog had been hit by a car or had been physically abused. The right hind leg was pinned together during surgery and there is extensive nerve damage in both legs. His injuries will require additional surgeries and a possible amputation.
Fennigan is currently receiving fairly extensive medical and surgical care. Lafayette Animal Aid works hard to give priority to animals that are ill or have injuries – but when we take in an animal that has extensive injuries like Fennigan, we must reach out to our community for help. Please donate whatever you are able, so that Fennigan can get the care he deserves. He is very young, and deserves to have a fair chance at having a loving and safe life ahead. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
Thank you so very kindly for helping us care for Fennigan and other abandoned animals in Acadiana. Your support allows us to save lives!
Operation Brown Bag
This year’s Operation Brown Bag campaign is being celebrated during Lafayette Animal Aid’s 40th birthday! We hope you will help us celebrate 40 years of rescuing and saving lives by participating in this fundraiser! Birthdays are usually celebrated by getting a group together and going out for lunch, right?
Rather than taking us out for a birthday lunch, how about donating that money and we’ll buy lunches for our furry friends at the shelter! $40 (or more!) for 40 years Thank you!!!
LAA Education Program
Lafayette Animal Aid’s Education Program utilizes a Therapy dog to visit second-grade students in Lafayette parish schools, community centers, YMCAs, libraries, and children’s clubs. Our service dogs are trained, captivated listeners, and their affection and attention can help children learning to read to develop more self-confidence in their reading skills and enhance their overall reading abilities. During these visits, Children read to the dog, are provided with educational material and a small stuffed animal that they can read to at home and help them develop a passion for reading and animals. Please help us keep this program going so more Acadiana children can benefit from this wonderful opportunity.
Pet Food Bank
Everyone needs a little help sometimes, our Pet Food Bank allows Pets to stay in their homes that would otherwise not be able to feed their animals and would give those animals up.
Would you like to donate to our Pet Food Bank but are unsure what to get or what we need? Don’t want to or can’t drive all the way out to the shelter to donate? You can now donate online to our Pet Food Bank and we will purchase what is needed for our existing and new Program participants. We sometimes get very specific requests for kitten or puppy food (or kitten milk) and this way we can fulfill these requests quicker. Donating online also allows us to pool donations and purchase bigger bags for individuals with multiple animals.
Thank you for your donation!

Our Shelter is funded by Donations, Fundraisers and Adoption Fees and we could not do what we do without your help – your financial help enables us to help our community take care of unwanted, homeless and sometimes injured Cats and Dogs. Please consider supporting our efforts to provide shelter, food and medical attention to the animals in our care “until they all have a home”
