We wouldn’t exist without our volunteers.
It’s as simple as that – volunteers are the backbone of Lafayette Animal Aid’s success.
And we always need more help. If you love cats and dogs and would like to make a difference in the lives of our community’s homeless pets, we’d love to hear from you. We have many different volunteering opportunities, like the ones below and if you have any questions, feel free to call or email at 337-896-1553 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
If you’d like to volunteer with us, please complete the online application, hit the “Submit Form” button at the end of the application and you’ll hear back from us soon!
Work at the shelter
We care for many, many cats and dogs at the shelter feeding, cleaning, exercising, washing dishes, giving medication, sweeping, hosing, bathing, brushing, and doing laundry. We also spend as much time as we can playing, socializing, and training. It’s not glamorous work but it’s necessary and it’s rewarding. If you can spare a few hours every week, either in the morning or late afternoon/evening, please consider this volunteer position.
*Note: To ensure the safety of our shelter staff and pets and to maximize our efficiency, we require that all “routine” volunteers train with an experienced handler for at least three shifts before being assigned to a regular schedule. Feel free to complete this training at your own pace, but please be willing to commit to six months of volunteering to help us utilize our resources most effectively.
If you’d like to help but can’t commit to a regular schedule, maybe you could join our transport team. We need people to drive our cats and dogs to and from local vet clinics for spay/neuter appointments, tests and checkups. Even one-way transports are helpful. By sharing the responsibility of animal transports, you are helping us help our pets!
Every year, Lafayette Animal Aid hosts fundraising and awareness events that are vital for our operation and community education. If you like helping with events or would just like to stuff some envelopes or help out the day-of, we’d love to have you.
